What’s new in HOA Start

✨ New

  • Member Directory — Members can now find and contact one another from a directory inside HOA Start, with name, email, and cell number, and search it by name. Every member decides for themselves whether they’re listed and can change their mind at any time from the new Settings tab on their profile. Your association sets whether new members start out listed, but a member’s own choice always wins. Members who leave drop out of the directory automatically.
  • Address checks on new properties — When you add a property, its address is checked against postal records as you save it. If a corrected version is found, you see what you entered beside the suggested address and choose which to keep. When you know better, keep what you typed: it’s saved and marked unverified. Addresses in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and much of the Caribbean are supported alongside the US.
  • Cancel a pending bank payment — A bank transfer (ACH) that hasn’t cleared yet can now be canceled from Payment History. Members can cancel a payment they made themselves, and your administrators can cancel any pending bank payment in the association. Once the bank confirms, the payment shows as canceled and its invoice goes back to open, so nothing gets paid twice.

🛠️ Improvements

  • Email links go straight to the point — The link in an invoice, payment, or balance email now opens the exact tab that shows what the email was about, on the member or the property, instead of the top of the profile. If you aren’t signed in, you’ll sign in first and land in the same place.
  • Email your not-yet-joined members — Mass email can reach members who were added but haven’t accepted their invitation, including expired invitations, so you can nudge them to sign up.
  • Simpler mass email — The separate Title field is gone; write your heading in the message itself, styled the way you want. You can also add a link without highlighting text first: enter the link text and address together.
  • Financial report descriptions — Each tab on the Financial Reports page now explains in one line what the report is for: Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement.
  • Stripe setup is clearer — Administrators who aren’t the Organization Owner now see why the Start Stripe Onboarding button is unavailable to them: only the Organization Owner can connect your association to Stripe.
  • Smoother updates — When we update HOA Start, you’ll see a short maintenance notice instead of errors, and the app brings you back automatically when it’s done.

🐛 Fixes

  • Managing organization admins now works on a phone, so you can assign and unassign admins from anywhere.
  • A chart of accounts description that’s too long now tells you why it won’t save, instead of failing silently.
  • Leaving an invoice schedule without saving no longer pops up an extra, unexpected window.
  • The Organization Settings tab no longer shifts its layout as you switch between tabs.
